This is a fantastic place to go if you want few hours of water based adventure. The river Wye is beautiful to say the least. The staff are very informative and friendly with it.
A grand day out. We have used this canoe hire three times and our latest experience was the best, probably because it was a shorter route subject to less time pressure. The canoes are good (no obvious leaks) and all the necessary safety equipment is supplied. Pay attention to the advice given before you start as it will improve your overall experience. If the canoes had GPS tracking it could improve the experience as there can be a bit of hanging about waiting for slower boats to reach pick up points.
We took a days canoe trip. They drove us up river, dropped us off with our canoe and we were able to go at our own pace. Smashing day on the river and very nice people. The day trip is challenging though, so be prepared! I'd suggest a half day if it's your first time.
Unfortunately the activity centre refused us after an attempted rebooking. When booking over the phone we were not told the details of the hire. We thought we were hiring canoes to use freely for around 90 minutes (as we had done previously), and we specified this. We were unknowingly railroaded into a 5 hour excursion that was double the price, and upon arrival the staff acted shocked that we did not want to join the excursion. They took it almost as a personal attack on their business that we did not want to follow through with their plans for the day and did not accept that their was any kind of miscommunication (which their definitely was).The staff acted rudely, interrogating us with aggressively-toned questions like Why not? and Whats wrong with it?. We tried to defuse the situation and left.We later called back to confirm 90 minutes of hire for the following day, as in the meantime the weather had taken a turn for the worse (from hot and sunny to cloudy and rainy). The owner again questioned our decision over the phone and tried to dispute the weather conditions. They then decided they did not want to allow us to hire anything.The customer service by this establishment has been abysmal. We were nothing but polite all the way through this ordeal and have come out disappointed. I wish their business all the worst.
