My son goes to this school and I will have my youngest there next year....possibly. We are seriously thinking about rather we will stay. The overwhelming concern for the correct outcome of the GCSEs appears to come at the expense of the students learning experience. Some of this is how the curriculum it structured. However, the compassion and nurturing that should be in education is missing. Although, I see the staff actively trying to improve as well as keep the standards high, some of that "improving" comes by not acknowledging problems. Some of these problems being quit serious in the culture or the school and staff. It is a better secondary school than most others in the area, including fee-paying schools. But that might be a comment on the fact money in education goes to London school and most only London schools.
Used to go hear before i moved to Liverpool and changed my name had a few good freinds there and the teachers were good but not much discipline plus a lot of the pupils are not very good people and did not show compassion towards me when i was going through a rough period in my life but no one asked so since i moved away i was abel to be around people who do care and not just be small minded some of them were alright though
This in my opinion is by far the best school for miles my son has just left MCS and all of his 5 years at Monmouth have been happy as well as him receiving excellent tutoring. I have worked a 2 schools and 4 colleges and I give MCS 97% marking the school down only due to age of the buildings that are being replaced during 2016.
I personally did not get along with this school. Although every single teacher was fantastic and helped you whenever you needed it and that they were always there for you; the actual school is corrupt.Don't buy all the "we have a 100% A*- C rate in GCSE and Levels" you know why? because that percentage does not include those kids who worked their ass off but come out with low grades and were then told to either resit the whole year again with different subjects(which would not have done any good if you needed those for university) or LEAVE!!!!I did very well on my GCSES but terrible on my AS Levels. They were pretty blunt and said either leave or resit. Not helpful at all. And so because I left it then meant that the average A*-C went up! (because i, as are many others, are out of the picture). They will never say how many kids had to drop out, of course they wont, they want you to go to their school.Again, don't get me wrong, the staff are amazing as so helpful, and i mean every single one of them! but the whole system is messed up.All I can say is that if you do well in this school, you will be looked after. If you don't do well, your on your own like i was.
I go to the school and it has very nice techers
